Reute Highline 179 – hiking trail
3.5 km
Castle/ bridge/ forest
Leashed dogs allowed
Our first stop in Austria was the famous Highline 179, a 114 meter high suspensions bridge between Fort Ehrenberg and Fort Claudia near Reutte.
We parked our car (paid parking) and bought tickets to get up.
We decided to walk up to Fort Ehrenberg in stead of taking the elevator. It’s a short walk up, it won’t take much longer than 15 minutes. There we visited the castle and entered the bridge. Oliver stayed on top of the backpack while we crossed the bridge. We had splendid views on the Alps and even dared to look down. After crossing the bridge we visited the ruines of Fort Claudia and decided to take the forest road back down to the parking lot in stead of crossing the bridge back to Fort Ehrenberg. It was a lovely hike back down.
